David Miller, Consultant,
Coldstream Sustainability Group
Ph.D. in experimental physics from the University of California, Berkeley; BA in Physics and Mathematics from the University of Pennsylvania; Certificates in LEED AP and Permaculture Design.
David is currently the Low Carbon Grid Program Coordinator at the Center for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Technologies where he is assisting in the development of policy aimed at integrating renewable energy onto the electric grid. David brings a strong analytical and technical foundation to this work, along with a passion for developing consensus-based solutions aimed at reducing our ecological footprint while promoting healthy and sustainable economic development. Prior to this, David was involved in developing an energy efficiency program in the Sierra Nevada and as project manager for a triple bottom line eco resort on the Pacific coast of Mexico (currently in operation). Before entering into the field of sustainable development, David was building probabilistic catastrophe simulation models (hurricane, earthquake and terrorism) for the insurance and reinsurance industries. David has had a wide variety of other jobs including building electrical energy load forecasting models for the energy industry; as a systems administrator position for a small Internet startup company; and has taught physics at Contra Costa Community College.
